here's to teenage memories
ABOUT
Daleelah Saleh is a sophomore at the Baccalaureate School for Global Education.
She fell in love with words at the tender age of zero, and it has been said that while most babies ate their books, she quite literally consumed them, day after day, never quite getting enough.
As she has gotten older, that fondness for words has only grown, and it has been joined by a fiery passion for social justice and activism.
As a young Muslim female of color, she understands the pain of having your words silenced by a dominant oppressive narrative. Because of this, she has vowed to use her voice to speak up for those whose voices have been silenced and work towards adding diversity and positive representation in media and literature.
While she can sometimes be found working on flash fiction or short stories, it is poetry that has captured her heart (and pen), in all its rawness and intensity. She has won both a silver key and an honorable mention from the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards for her poetry, and it is a source of great honor and pride.
In her free time, Daleelah can be found indulging in other creative forms, such as photography, playing guitar, and painting.
